Scribbled Words

She heaved a deep breath and locked eyes with him. “I hope you’re happy,” she said. “But I also hope you don’t wake up one day feeling regret, wondering if you settled for comfort instead of pursuing something you’re passionate about. I hope you find something you’re crazy about, something you couldn’t bear to lose, and hold onto it with all your might. And never let anyone take it away from you.”

“But I love you,” he replied, breathless.

She smiled sadly. “The sky would still be the sky without you,” she said, her voice devoid of warmth. He felt his world crumble in that moment, realizing she no longer looked at him the way she used to.

As he gazed up at the night sky, he saw countless twinkling stars, but he knew in his heart that even if he found a million stars, there would only be one moon to light up his world. And he had lost it not so long ago.
